Quick start and operation principles
Grid-tied system
- Connect the unit according to the diagram.
- Power up the converter on both AC and DC
- Set the basic parameters via your EMS
- Check that the analog and digital input parameters have been set according to the connections.
- Give start command
- Give setpoints on power
Pre-Charging of DC
Smarten Power 150 has its own DC pre-charging circuit charging control, to avoid inrush current between the battery and the DC link capacitor.
The pre-charging function is activated when battery has closed its contactor, and a start command has been sent to the converter
the pre-charging relay will close first. once the voltage on the pre-charge resistor is lower than the threshold, the main relay will be closed, then the pre-charge relay will open
Operation principle: Droop Control Mode
What is droop control
Droop control is a technique for controlling synchronous generators and inverter-based resources in electric grids. In droop control, frequency and voltage “droop” values are assigned to each generation unit in the grid. These droop values represent how much the frequency and voltage are allowed to deviate from their nominal values to account for changes in power demands.
What can droop control help on
It allows multiple generation units to be connected in parallel, sharing loads in proportion to their power rating.
How to use droop control
Diesel generator operation Working with strong grid
Load reference setpoint
Load reference setpoint represents the generation that will be produced by the generator when the frequency is 50 or 60Hz.
Unlike in P-Q mode, a power setpoint can directly lead to a consistent power in/output, a load reference setpoint does not promise that the converter really in/output what has been set. The actual output depends on the interconnection system's characteristics, especially the other converters' or generators' settings.
